David King
David King has extensive legal experience, as well as valuable business and civic experience. He has an AV® Preeminent Rating – the highest rating available from Martindale-Hubbell, the leading independent attorney rating entity. David represents business entities through their formation, sale, governance, taxation and dissolution. He provides general counsel services to companies in multiple industries. He also represents clients in litigation, specializing in disputes over corporate ownership and control.
David has incorporated hundreds of companies, served as outside general counsel to businesses in a variety of industries, represented companies through venture capital financings, initial public offerings and mergers & acquisitions, while also building trial experience in disputes over corporate control and private securities transactions.
David practiced corporate securities law at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood on Wall Street and at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Silicon Valley. In addition to his transactional experience, David has litigated cases since 2002.
As corporate counsel to start-up companies in Palo Alto, David worked on venture capital financings, initial public offerings, employee stock option plans and mergers & acquisitions. While practicing law in New York, David counseled clients through public offerings of securities and international business transactions.
David’s litigation experience includes trials and appeals in state and federal courts. David is a Certified Public Accountant, he worked as a Senior Accountant for Deloitte, and he earned the Elijah Watt Sells Award for his outstanding performance on the CPA exam.
David graduated first in his class from the University of Florida’s Fisher School of Accounting (1991), and he earned his Juris Doctor with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1997).
David served as Chairman of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, in addition to serving on the San Diego River Conservancy, the County Assessment Appeals Board and the Advisory Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. David is a member of the San Diego Venture Group, the Association for Corporate Growth, the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the San Diego County Bar Association, ProVisors, and the San Diego Track Club. David has a son, Harrison, and a daughter, Grace.
